Many retailers shy away from digitalization because they picture large, expensive software projects. In reality, the biggest lever usually lies in small, quickly implementable steps: a modern POS system with a digital inventory overview, for instance, or a simple website with current opening hours and product photos.

A digital loyalty program, too, can today be implemented with manageable effort and often delivers measurable results within a few months — repeat customers, higher average baskets.

Our advice to retailers: implement three small, clearly scoped projects in sequence rather than one large one that drags on for months and ties up resources.
